# זֶמֶרֶשֶׁת — Zemereshet > A free, non-profit archive of early Hebrew song: lyrics, sheet music, historical > recordings and documentation of the songs sung in the Land of Israel and in Jewish > communities, mostly from the late 19th century to the 1960s. The site is in Hebrew. Zemereshet holds over 9,000 songs, more than 20,000 recorded performances, and some 5,500 lyricists, composers and performers. A song page gathers the lyrics — usually vocalised with niqqud — the lyricist and the composer, the origin of the melody, historical notes, sheet music, and recordings, including field recordings made with veteran singers. Songs are cross-referenced: other texts set to the same melody, other melodies written for the same text, and other Hebrew versions of a shared foreign source. Stable page addresses: a song is /song.asp?id=, an artist /artist.asp?id=, a record /record.asp?id=, a book /book.asp?id=, an article /article.asp?id=. The listing pages below take no parameters. Reuse terms — please read before quoting or reproducing anything. Rights in the works themselves (lyrics, melodies, arrangements) belong to their authors and/or to ACUM until 70 years after the author's death. Sound recordings made up to and including 1966, and photographs up to and including [current_year]-51 (e.g. until 1975 for 2016), are in the public domain in Israel. Everything else — recordings, photographs, sheet music, articles and other material — is published by permission of the rights holders for private, non-commercial use only.
